Always a feature of good gardens in May and June when the sculptural flower heads provide much needed colour and height before the summer arrives. Their ‘exclamation mark’ shapes lift them from the surrounding planting which in turn hides the Allium leaves which are often untidy at flowering time. Masses of sun and fairly well drained soils suit them best.Foxgloves, emerging Delphinium and hardy Geraniums are wonderful companion plants.
