Anemone nemorosa virescens
Green frothy appearance

A curiosity which is none-the-less striking.  The petals and tepals are replaced by double green bracts, giving an unusual mop-headed look to this A. nemorosa form.  The normal A. nemorosa forms do not produce much nectar, as they do not rely very much on pollination for reproduction, so this maybe the obvious next step!  The clusters of leaflets last for several weeks, flowering in mid-Spring to 5" (12cm) tall.

Planting instructions

Plant 2-3" (5-7.5cm) deep, 3" (7.5cm) apart laid horizontally in humus rich, moisture-retaining soil that receives part shade, ideally under deciduous trees or shrubs.
