An uncommon, double petalled form of the cream coloured Camassia leichtlinii, making a bold statement in any border. C.leichtilinii is native to western N America, where it grows in moist mountain meadows. It likes sun and ground moisture through spring and flowering, and is happy in heavy ground. In the garden it can be grown in part shade, and flowers a little later and for longer than any other form because of its sterile nature. In a good position they will form clumps which can later be divided. Cream flowered in June, 36" (90cm) tall.
Planting instructions
Plant them about 4" (10cm) deep, 9" (22cm) apart in a humus-rich, moisture retentive soil, in either a sunny position or in half shade. If you do not want them to seed about remove the flower head after flowering |
