| Pure white petals with a strongly contrasting bright yellow centre |
| |

|

| |
Pure white, somewhat pointed petals, open in the sun to show a bright yellow centre, and a bright orange stigma. C. sieberi is found in the mountains of Crete, Mr. E A Bowles himself found this form and he wrote "In 1923 I found two pure white youngsters among my seedlings, after thirty years of hopeful expectation! The wonderfully fine contrast between its pure white perianth with the orange throat and scarlet stigmata is only equalled among crocuses by the autumn flowering C. niveus". This crocus likes a well drained, but not dry position, with as much sun as it can get. It is ideal for a rock garden or a sunny position where it will not be disturbed. It is one of the earliest spring flowering crocuses with white flowers in February / March. 3"-4" (7-10cm) tall.
Planting instructions
Plant 8-10 cm (3-4in) deep in a small tight groups, 2 or 3 bulbs only 1.5" (4cm) apart repeated at larger intervals. Full sun and gritty, well drained soil. Do beware of mice and squirrel attack. |
