 EUCOMIS

Sometimes called the Pineapple Lily with large candle-like spikes of waxy flowers crowned by a cluster of green bracts. The flowers last ages in a range of colours, heights and forms, all very attractive to beneficial insects. The interesting seed heads that follow flowering only topple after the frosts and first gales of winter, so you should expect 3 or 4 months worth of interest from most forms! We consider them easy and hardy – they fall dormant with the cold and only appear above ground in late May, so buried quite deeply one just ignores them all winter.
