Narcissus Tete a tete

Deservedly popular, deep golden yellow, multi headed blooms early in the spring

One of the early dwarf hybrids which is now produced in great numbers and you'll see forced (grown to flower early) for supermarkets and outside florists everywhere. But you can do it yourself, or better still plant good big bulbs in your garden to have a display that will outlast any potted specimen because the soil is a far better and cooler medium in which to grow most bulbs. Multiheaded (literally, head to head) with small golden yellow flowers on plants with relatively low foliage at flowering time. Golden yellow flowers 6" tall (15 cm) in Feb/Mar.

Planting instructions

Plant the bulbs 2-3" (5-8cm) apart in any reasonable soil, 3" deep (8cm). perhaps amongst some Iris reticulata or with some Scillas as companions for when they flower. Alternatively pot them into John Innes No 2 for early colour, then plant out in the garden later. Do not be tempted to cut back or tidy the foliage after flowering - this period of replenishment of the bulb's starchy food reserves is critical to future flowering. A liquid feed while starchy leaves are still green will benefit clumps in poorer soil. I would suggest you plant them in distinct groups and not randomly - the effect is generally better.
